A word from the Pastor (W. James Anderson Jr.) My wife, (Cora Lee Anderson), daughter, (Natalie Marie Barnes), and son (James Nunzie Anderson), started Apostolic Lighthouse, U. P. C., Inc. , which is now renamed New Life UPC, around April of 1986. Our very first service was held in a rented store front. We had an area wide singing to kick it off, on May 31, 1986 on a Friday night. We worked out of Rev. C. F. Watkins church in Daingerfield for a few years with a 2:00 PM service each Sunday. There have been mighty miracles and moves of God over the years. We went on Home Missions status for three years and have been having a full schedule of services since. The basis of our church is the foundation laid by the New Covenant of Jesus Christ and the Actions of His Apostles (1Corinthians 3:11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ). We believe in prayer, bible study, heart-felt worship, honest relationships, and compassion for others. We not only preach the Word of God, but we strongly endeavor to live by it, from the preacher in the pulpit to all those in faithful attendance. We are a church in unity, receiving each other's differences, appreciating the same and binding together in Truth to further the Kingdom of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! Whether you are just beginning to ask questions about God or you are a committed Christian, there is a place for you at New Life UPC. We believe God made no human trash, but we are all being formed and made into His Image.
Keith Barnes - Assistant to the Pastor Hello! We are the Barnes family. Keith, Natalie, Anna and Anthony Barnes. Just a little about us. We serve primarily as Assistant to the Pastor and as Youth leaders. We feel very blessed to have served since 1995 at New Life UPC, formerly named Apostolic Lighthouse, UPC. We served in ministry at Kings Temple, Shreveport, Louisiana for two years before moving to Mt. Vernon. I have a passion for teaching Bible studies. This passion includes people knowing the manifested God of the Old Testament, Jesus Christ! Being born of Water and Spirit. Taking on the family name of God. I believe in a good discussion of scripture. Natalie and I have been married since 1990. Our two children have only added to the ADVENTURE! I have been a Sales Rep. for many years and Natalie being the best keeper of our home. We are expecting great things in the future. Jared Barnett - Assistant to the Pastor Bro. Jared Barnett came to New Life UPC, formerly named Apostolic Lighthouse in 1992. He is a very intricate and helpful individual. He is committed to God's Kingdom and strongly committed in the area of our young people. He also preaches out to the surrounding area churches. He is very unselfish in the needs of others and devoted to all facets of furthering the Kingdom.
James L. (J. L.) Rogers - Assistant to the Pastor Greetings from the Rogers Family: J.L, Mindy and Garrett. I have been a part of New Life UPC, formerly named Apostolic Lighthouse Church, since 1992. Mindy has been a part of New Life UPC since 1999. We serve as Assistant to the Pastor, assistant in Sunday School, and are a part of the Puppet team. We enjoy working for the Kingdom of God and feel very blessed to be a part of New Life UPC. We have a burden for Youth and lost souls. Mindy and I have been married nine years and are looking forward to an awesome LONG life together. We were blessed with Garrett in October of 2002, which put a wonderful spark in our lives and we are expecting a baby girl in January. I have been employed by a gas company as a Service Tech for seven years and Mindy has been a Pre-School Teacher/Secretary for 2 years and she takes care of Garrett. We are looking forward to greater things to come and the blessings of God. God is awesome, and may he bless you greatly.
Richard & Sandra Walker - Children's Ministries Bro. Richard and Sandra Walker are New Life's Children's Ministry Leaders. They are committed to fulfilling the Biblical command to see that New Life's children are trained in the way they should go. They have been a blessing. They have two grown children. Andrew , He plays the bass guitar. Erika , She sings and plays the piano.
